The Turkish Studies is a professional with philological roots, devoted to the study of Turkic languages and Turkic literature and also addressed the history and culture of the Turkic-speaking peoples. Today, the horizantal and vertical specialization of the field is advanced in a number of methodological, temporal and geographic focus strongly. In Bamberg, the focus is on the employment of Turkish Studies in the history and culturel of the Ottoman Empire and the Republic of Turkey.

Turkish Programme:
Thus many intersections exist with another disciplines, particulary subjects that deal with the Middle East. Therefore, the field of Turkish Studies at the level of study leading to the Bachelor level in the BA program "Islamic East" is integrated in the framework of the Turkish can be learned. Only at the level of the Masters Course,which follows the Bachelor’s degree,a special course is offered Turkish Studies. It requires good knowledge of Turkish and also consists of the learning of the Ottoman-Turkish.
